About Action Tuam

As can be read elsewhere on this site, Action Tuam started off in 1990 with the idea of setting up an enterprise centre in Tuam. This was to promote and support employment initiatives in the area.
With the establishment of our first enterprise centre at Tuam Business Park on The Weir Road in 1992 we set about getting people with job creating potential to locate at the centre. The centre was officially opened in March 1994 when it was almost fully occupied.
In order to fund further development the board of directors decided to sell our original centre to the existing tenants who wished to purchase their holding.
By November 2004 we had completed a deal with the Industrial Development authority for the acquisition of lands on the Weir Road which comprised a total of 23 acres on a 999 year lease basis.
A formal planning application was lodged with Galway County Council on 16th November 2006 for the construction of 5 light industrial single story units and two story office area and ancillary accommodation with 54 car parking spaces and all associated site works.
On 16th October 2009 the first sod was turned on the site with the then chairman John Concannon and the contractor who was awarded the contract John Moran Plant Hire & Construction Ltd.,
The building of the units took just over a year to complete and the building was finally finished in March 2011.
